Movie adaptations of videogames have slowly buy surely getting better, with the most recent efforts showing that Hollywood does have some talent that understands how to bring these gaming experiences to the silver screen. The next film to hopefully continue this trend is Five Nights at Freddy’s, but the path to making this project happen hasn’t been an easy one.

In an interview with IGN, Five Nights at Freddy’s movie producer Jason Blum spoke about the challenges in bringing this game franchise to the big screen, and that included some harassment by the people around him.

“I really love a challenge. Scott had been working on it as a movie with a studio for a while and that didn’t work out, this is many years ago. Everyone said we could never get the movie done, including, by the way, internally in my company. I was made fun of for pursuing this, this thing that could never happen, and that always lights a fire under me to say, ‘I bet I can do this’.”

Hopefully Blum won’t be a target for more lambasting when the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie arrives. We’ll all see how the film turns out come Oct. 27th, 2023.
