Sonic fans have enjoyed Sonic Frontiers, a brand-new Sonic title that launched earlier this year. We’re also going to get Sonic Superstars, a new 2D installment set for launch sometime in Fall 2023. Going forward, it sounds like Sonic faithful can expect some more titles that will revisit the Blue Blur’s classic adventures.

Famitsu magazine recently spoke to SEGA President and Chief Operations Officer, Yukio Sugino, about all things Sonic. While specific plans for Sonic’s future weren’t shared, Sugino did make it clear that fans can expect some remakes and reboots down the road.

“Of course, we have to do new things, but as with all IPs, we don’t have new works or reboots. We will develop while selecting which is appropriate at this timing for each IP, such as ‘This is the best way to do this IP’. ‘Sonic’ is also SEGA’s signature IP, and in parallel with the new game, we are considering reboots and remakes.”

When you think about it, they could take highly flawed games and make them good. Like, imagine the Sonic Adventure games with better controls and hit detection.

@hawk

But is it possible to make Sonic 06 into a good game though?

You know, I had that same thought. I'll bet Sonic 06 could be improved, but who knows if it could cross that line into "good".
