You know how this goes by now. Whenever Nintendo has a high-profile Switch release in the works, it usually ends up leaking shortly before release. A few days here, a couple of weeks there, but always close to launch. We saw it happen with Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and unfortunately, Nintendo has been struck with bad luck once again.

While we don’t know the specifics on how it came about, we can confirm that Pikmin 4 has leaked online. We’re guessing you know what that means. If you want to keep Pikmin 4 unspoiled until you get to go hands-on with it this Friday, you’ll definitely want to stay far away from social media.

If you have to be in/around social media over the next few days, please scroll with caution. We obviously won’t be sharing any of those spoilers, so you’ll be safe here. On social media, do yourself a favor and mute words/phrases/specific accounts in order to keep the entire experience pristine until launch day.

And unfortunately it came as no surprise.

How do these games leak? Well someone at a store grabs one and leaks it, for example? Nintendo really have to do something about this.

It varies, but Nintendo had been working to stamp out retailers breaking street dates, so there's only four fields where all the leaks are happening in allegedly if it isn't simple street date breaching.

1) Journalists get review copies which can be misused.
2) Supply chains have people that misuse copies.
3) Q/A chains (ie software bugtesters) have people that misuse copies.
4) Hackers breached Nintendo servers again and this time have dumped all the coming software prior to their launch windows.

In all the cases you mention it should be pretty easy to narrow down from where the leak came from.
