Mortal Kombat 1 is a complete reboot for the Mortal Kombat franchise, and big things are on the horizon. The dev team has plenty of ideas to work with, and it seems they’ll be sharing them for quite some time.

Comicbook.com had a chance to talk to Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon about the post-launch plans for Mortal Kombat 1. Boon made a strong commitment to the game, saying that support would last for 2 years at the very least. This would take the game all the way into 2025, but updates and more could continue longer than that.

“I think that’s the minimum we’ll be doing. I think we’ll be supporting this game at least as long as [Mortal Kombat 11]. I would suspect even longer, but a lot of the fun of releasing additional characters after we launched the game is seeing the relationships.”
