Xenoblade Chronicles 3 just celebrated its 1st anniversary yesterday. It’s hard to believe that already a year has passed since that game launched, but as they say, time flies when you’re having fun!

Of course, when one Xenoblade game launches, fans wonder if yet another installment will come around. We don’t have an answer to that right now, but we do have some speculation about what could come next music-wise from the series’ composer.

The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Limited Edition Soundtrack includes liner notes from none other than Tetsuya Takahashi, the game’s lead composer. In those notes, Takahashi discusses plans for the soundtrack should a fourth installment come around. Just to be clear, there’s nothing official mentioned about the potential for a Xenoblade Chronicles 4, but should it happen, Takahashi is ready to take things in a whole new direction.

If there is another ‘Xenoblade’ in the future, it will be something significantly different from before. I would like to make the style and content something that can fully capture the imagination of the audience, which will be the next goal.

There's a mistake here, Tetsuya Takahashi is the series director and writer not the composer.
As for the quote itself whether he's talking about a new game as a whole or just the soundtrack I'm excited for whatever they do next, Monolith Soft has become one of my favourite developers in the industry.

Would make sence, if it's a prequel to X or X2, concidering X's style was very different already!

Yeah, I kind of imagine the next game will be a revisit to the XbX continuity now that the Xb1 trilogy is over with. In that case it would be a return to that game's hip-hop OST.

If they do revisit X then hopefully they bring back Sawano as well, X without his music wouldn't be the same.

Haha, I'm glad you posted because I immediately thought the same thing. Composer seems tricky with this series since they're kinda like a smaller scale smash bros. They have some legends like Mitsuda and Shimomura, but a whole bunch of others are listed as well. It seems like a very collaborative effort.
