Masahiro Sakurai dives into the development of Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS
The first steps in a very long journey
Masahiro Sakurai is back with yet another game development video, and this one fits into the ‘Game Concepts’ category.
Sakurai says that not only was Smash Bros. 3DS the first-ever handheld Smash Bros. title, it was also the first time he ever developed a game for two consoles simultaneously! This may sound like a reckless decision, but Sakurai says he had good reason for doing so.
As you now know, Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS served as the base for Smash Bros. Ultimate, which would eventually pack in a ton of new characters and stages. If only Sakurai knew how much work he was signing up for when he started development on Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS!
