Zelda and Kirby take top honors
The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) have revealed the full list of winners for the CEDEC Awards 2023, and Nintendo came away a big winner. Believe it or not, Nintendo-related content won four of the five awards available!
As we’ve previously covered, Masahiro Sakurai ended up winning two awards at the event, and both were tied to his “Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games” YouTube series. In particular, Sakurai’s YouTube series took home an Excellence Award in both the Game Design and Visual Arts categories.
As far as games go, both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom won awards as well. Nintendo and HAL were awarded the Engineering Award for their work on Kirby and the Forgotten Land, while the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom team was honored with the Special Award.
The only non-Nintendo project that took home an award was Hi-Fi Rush, whose sound team was honored with the Sound Award.
