If you own a physical copy of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, particularly the North American version, you could be coming into a considerable amount of cash in the near future.

As you might remember, the digital version of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D was yanked from the 3DS eShop awhile back due to a licensing issue with ‘historical archive footage,’ as Konami put it. The game still hasn’t returned to the 3DS eShop, and with the shop’s closure coming next year, it’s looking less and less likely that’ll happen. As you might have figured out by now, the combination of these two elements is pushing the price of boxed copies upwards by a decent amount.

Back in November, you could snag a loose copy of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D for roughly $27. Fast-forward to today, and a loose copy has jumped up to roughly $69. If you have a boxed copy, you can currently get somewhere around $90 for your copy. That’s quite a leap in value in just a few short months!

If Konami brings the game back to the 3DS eShop, you can expect these prices to drop off quite significantly. Again, that seems very unlikely, so expect physical copies of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D to climb from here on out.

Never forget the importance of physical. Yes all things eventually degrade and digital theoretically can outlast everything however ownership and authenticity are not guaranteed.

Thats a pretty tame jump, imo. Something like Yokai Watch 3 generally sits around the $150-200 range, for example. Not sure why NL decided to do a not super great write up about this, besides the fact they have to fill out at least 2 articles a day on the 3DS store shut down.

This is nothing. Dragon Quest 7 and 8 are having prices sky high and they are around 100-150$ now...
