Chrono Cross super fans might have noticed something odd about the game’s intro movie. In this intro, players get to see a bunch of cut-scene snippets from throughout the game, including a moment where Serge is seen running with a Mastermune Swallow. The thing is, this cut-scene is never shown later in the game. Was it left in the intro by mistake?

20+ years after the original released, we now have an answer. Thanks to the release of Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, director Masato Kato is answering fan questions on Twitter. One fan asked about this very moment from the intro, and Kato explained the moment. You can see his full answer below.

The priority when creating that scene of Serge running with the Master Mune was to show Serge as brave and dynamic in the opening movie. It wasn’t like we had that particular scene in the story and then deleted it later. It was more that this kind of scene wouldn’t be out of place, or rather, this is him in his usual state.
