All the way back in May 2021, Square Enix revealed that they were working on an HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest III. Following that announcement, an update from the team in Dec. 2022 said that everyone was working hard to bring the project to fruition. Now, 9+ months later, we have another status update from the devs.

Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii, who’s also involved with Dragon Quest III HD-2D, was recently asked for a status update on the project. While he didn’t have much to say, Horii did mention that Dragon Quest III HD-2D is progressing quite steadily. Sadly, outside of that quick comment, no other remarks on the game were made.

Fans hoping for some sort of more substantial update on Dragon Quest III HD-2D will have to continue crossing those fingers and toes extra tightly. Let’s all hope that Square Enix has some sort of surprise tied to the game ready to unveil at this year’s TGS.
