While more sales stats will trickle in over the next 48 hours, we’ve learned that EA SPORTS FC 24 has had an incredibly impressive debut over in the United Kingdom.

In its first week of sales, EA SPORTS FC 24 has managed to secure the #1 spot on the weekly UK sales charts. That’s really not a surprise in any way, shape or form, but we have some clarity on just how big of a debut it was. As things stand right now, EA SPORTS FC 24 has secured the second biggest retail launch in the UK for 2023.

The previous record-holder for second-biggest boxed debut was Hogwart’s Legacy, which has now been bumped down to the third spot. Indicating the strength of Nintendo’s first parties, believe it or not, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom managed to hold onto its #1 spot for boxed debuts in the UK for 2023. That is pretty unbelievable when you consider that Tears of the Kingdom is available on just one platform, while EA SPORTS FC 24 has 6 separate SKUs.

Things look even better for EA SPORTS FC 24 on Switch, as its boxed sales are up (slightly) when compared to FIFA 23 Legacy Edition. Even more impressive, EA SPORTS FC 24 on Switch is the only boxed version of the game that saw an increase in sales year-over-year, with physical sales across all other platforms down 30% compared to last year.
