After 6+ years of giving Switch owners the same-old thing, EA finally stepped it up by creating a soccer game from ground up. Sure, that fresh take might have been born out of necessity, but it’s a new experience nonetheless.

Switch owners had been getting Legacy versions of FIFA games for years now, but with the EA/FIFA relationship severed, the future of soccer from EA rests in the EA SPORTS FC series. This year marks the debut of that brand across all platforms, Switch included.

EA has talked a lot about their jump to the Frostbite engine on Switch with EA SPORTS FC 24, but just how much of a difference does that make? The video above takes a look at FIFA 23 Legacy Edition on Switch and compares it to EA SPORTS FC 24 in order to compare both visuals and framerates between the two. It’s an interesting comparison, and there are certainly areas where you see that EA SPORTS FC 24 is a major step in the right direction.
