Die Gute Fabrik is pleased to announce – as part of PlayStation’s Indie Day initiative – that their new story-driven adventure game Saltsea Chronicles will be available on Switch October 12. In a brand new gameplay trailer, Creative Director Hannah Nicklin takes you through all the intricacies and intrigues of the post-flood world at the heart of Saltsea Chronicles.

Saltsea Chronicles takes around 10 hours to complete on a first playthrough. The team recommends replaying the game using the branching save system to explore some of the alternative island pathways & expedition character choices.

IGF-nominated sound artist and composer Eli Rainsberry (Wilmot’s Warehouse, If Found…) is also pleased to announce the release of the Saltsea Chronicles Official Game Soundtrack, available on Bandcamp, Spotify, and Apple Music October 12th. Saltsea Chronicles’ score is an atmospheric blend of traditional instruments and synthetic arrangements that help tell the story of a crew voyaging to find their missing captain.

Next week, the team will also be publishing a climate impact report they have commissioned with Dr Benjamin Abraham, sustainability researcher and consultant of AfterClimate, thought to be the first of its kind identifying the climate impact of an indie game production.

Saltsea Chronicles is a new story-driven adventure game from the award-winning indie studio Die Gute Fabrik (Mutazione, Sportsfriends).

Captain Maja’s misfit crew must heist their impounded ship and mount a rescue of their missing crew member. Guide the crew across islands of a post-flood world known as ‘Saltsea’. Explore strange and wonderful communities, uncover a deep conspiracy, choose where to go and which crew members to investigate with, and chart a journey through a story told across an entire archipelago.
