Super Mario RPG on Switch changes select character names

You might not know it, but the original English release of Super Mario RPG has some character names that don’t quite line up with what Nintendo had done for the Japanese side of things. Now we can see that Nintendo will be changing that for the upcoming Switch remake.

Thanks to information on the official Super Mario RPG website, we can see that three characters in particular have gotten revamped names. Yaridovich is being renamed to Speardovich, Mukumuku to Thropher, and Shy Away to Beezo.

It’s likely there will be some other name changes in the full game, but these are all that have been revealed on the game’s official website. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more revamps and let you know what we find.
