While we’re still waiting on the fully weekly UK sales charts, we do have some notes on just how things went for the debut of Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

Based on the data in so far, we can see that Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the third biggest boxed launch in the UK for a mainline Mario game. It just missed out on beating first and second place spots, Super Mario Odyssey and and Super Mario 3D All-Stars. Again, this figure is just for physical numbers, and Nintendo doesn’t share digital data.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the fifth biggest retail launch in the UK for 2023, with Spider-Man 2 taking the 4th position. Both games lagged behind the launches of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, EA Sports FC 24 and Hogwarts Legacy. For comparison Super Mario Bros. Wonder came in 62% lower than Tears of the Kingdom’s debut, although the game is expected to have a much longer tail.
