Yesterday, we heard from Five Nights at Freddy’s director Emma Tammi on the topic of going for a PG-13 rating for the film. As all but one of the games in the series are rated Teen, and the director wanted to make sure the younger fans of the franchise could watch the movie, going the PG-13 route made sense.

Even with that explanation, rumors still persist of an R-rated cut behind the scenes, or one that’ll release via some other method. This topic came up in a Forbes interview, and Tammi was quick to shoot the idea down.

“I would say not to expect an R-rated version on this one. We’re really happy with how the PG-13 tone landed; it felt like the right fit for this particular film. We’re sticking by it.”
