I think people expected the Five Night’s at Freddy’s movie to do well, but it seems to be yet another videogame adaptation that’s blowing away expectations. We saw that with the opening box office figures, and now we’re seeing the same for streaming as well.

Five Nights at Freddy’s launched on Peacock the same day it arrived in theaters, and even with the box office accounting for $80 million the opening weekend, it seems plenty of people watched from home as well. According to Universal, Five Night’s at Freddy’s had the biggest five-day debut of any title on Peacock, and that includes The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

While Universal didn’t share any actual streaming numbers for Five Night’s at Freddy’s on Peacock, shooting straight to the #1 position right at launch no doubt shows that millions of homes were tuning in to see how the game faired as a full-length feature film. Judging by the Rotten Tomatoes scores for the audience, it seems many came away quite pleased.
