Fortnite is still one of the most popular battle royale games around, with the title pulling in an average of 2.5 million active players any given day. Much like Pokémon GO, Fortnite remains a place where millions have some fun years after its debut, but numbers have certainly dropped from initial wave. Today, the pendulum is starting to swing back in the other direction.

Chapter 4: Season 5 just launched in Fortnite today, but it’s being called the OG Season. This is because Epic is bringing back a ton of classic locations, weapons and more from past seasons of Fortnite. As you probably know, nothing wins people over like nostalgia, and people are clearly feeling nostalgic for the earlier years of Fortnite.

Just hours after the OG Season launched, Epic is already seeing the player base for Fortnite skyrocket. As of right now, there are more than double the amount of usual active players in Fortnite, going from the above 2.5 million to 5+ million. There’s no doubt that number will climb as the day goes on, kids get out of school, and adults get home from work.

If you’ve missed the old days of Fortnite or you’ve never played a game, hopping in on the OG Season seems like the perfect time to see what it’s all about.
