Original Waluigi designer reveals unused Wapeach design
Well that's just peachy
Wario and Waluigi have been buddying around since the Mario Tennis days, and the dastardly duo has been together ever since. Mario and Luigi’s devilish doppelgangers came around decades ago, yet we’ve never seen any other mainline Mario characters get a ‘Wa’ makeover. Turns out there were actually plans to do just that, but they were left on the cutting room floor.
The original character designer for Waluigi has taken to their social media accounts to share never-before-seen art depicting an evil take on Princess Peach. Dubbed Wapeach, the image above shows the character design as a 3D model. She certainly has a different look from Princess Peach, but she’s decidedly more Peach than Waluigi or Wario.
Wapeach was originally in the works for Mario Power Tennis, but she obviously didn’t make the cut. This is due to Nintendo wanting to avoid comparisons to Doronjo from the Yatterman series. I guess Nintendo was extremely nervous about these potential comparisons, as Wapeach is still nowhere to be seen decades later!

5M agoIt's...just Peach in a different outfit. With Wario and Waluigi there's no chance someone who's never seen them before would mistake them for Mario and Luigi. Could've at least made her buff or something. Would've set her apart from Doronjo too.

5M agoThis is quite a bit different from what I was expecting. I kind of thought she'd be more... you know... Evil.
Still, I'm glad it's been revealed. I figured we'd always wonder what the lost "WaPeach" design looked like, but now we know. It kind of makes me want to make my own design, since I imagined it so differently.

5M agoShould be worth noting for anyone lamenting there's no Wapeach, that Peach will have an evil rival in Grape as seen in the Showtime trailer

5M agoHate the "Wa" added to everyone apart from Wario. Come on! WARio! It had a meaning at least.
"Waluigi" is actually a pun in Japanese. "Warui" (or "walui") means evil, basically.
Or "bad" actually. Thanks for pointing that out =)
