Here’s news that’ll shock just about no one. Dragon Quest is extremely popular in Japan, and that includes spin-offs as well. The latest proof of the franchise’s undying support in Japan comes from DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS: The Dark Prince, which is seeing quite the groundswell of attention at retail.

Square Enix has announced that multiple retailers in Japan have sold out of boxed copies of DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS: The Dark Prince. The game has only been available since Dec. 1st, 2023, so fans have scooped up a considerable amount of units in the span of just 3 days. Square Enix didn’t say if or when a restock was coming, but they did remind people that the title is also available via the Switch eShop.

In other Dragon Quest news, Square Enix announced that they’ll be opening up a limited-time Dragon Quest pop-up shop in Japan very soon. The store will be found at Shibuya Parco and it’ll be up-and-running from Dec. 5th to 26th, 2023. As expected, the pop-up shop will offer all kinds of apparel, merch and snacks tied to Dragon Quest. In particular, fans will be able to snag an exclusive Slime-shaped popcorn tub, and get a close look at an upcoming Dragon Quest Bewarewolf statue.
