The Legend of Zelda series has been around since the NES days, and in every single installment sense, we’ve played the role of Link as he sets out to save the world, and usually Zelda along with it. That is the case once again with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but that doesn’t mean things couldn’t change in the future.

Will we ever see a Legend of Zelda game where Zelda is the main playable character for the entire journey? Obviously Nintendo isn’t going to share that sort of information now, but in an IGN interview with Nintendo’s Eiji Aonuma, it sounds like the idea is at the very least being considered.

“Yeah, it is interesting when you think about the name of the series, the Legend of Zelda, but Link is always the main character. And Link has been the main character, and Zelda has always been involved, and they have a relationship and their own rules in each of the games. But it is true that, I think there’s always room for thinking about this type of thing and Zelda’s role. And there may be some sort of possibility for something like that in the future. …Maybe. Maybe, maybe.”

Game press ask the same questions and get the same answers, its a lot like Demise’s curse. haha I kid. I do firmly believe that Zelda will be playable, (and even have an entire game centered around her!) in our lifetime. Mark it down. I only plan on living to the year 2175. Mark that down as well.
