How many more accolades can The Super Mario Bros. movie gather before 2023 is over? We already know it’s the highest-grossing animated movie of the year, and the second highest-grossing animated movie of all-time. It also got nominated for 3 Golden Globes just today! You might think that would be the biggest news for the film today, but now we have one more stellar stat to share.
While 2023 isn’t over yet, the bulk of the year’s data is in on any given topic, and that includes the streaming side of things. People have been streaming all sorts of movies throughout the year, but there obviously has to be one that brought in more eyes than any other. In the case of the United States, we now know that Mario reigned supreme.
The U.S. top 10 list of most-streamed movies in 2023 came out, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie is sitting pretty at the #1 position. That’s incredibly impressive when you consider that the movie didn’t join streaming services like Peacock until the beginning of August, and just got added to Netflix a few days back. Still, those 4+ months were enough to push Mario right to the top.
