European hardware/software sales for November 2023

Another strong month for Nintendo

The latest gaming sales data for Europe have come in, and it gives us a look at how things went down in November of 2023. Let’s kick things off with the top 10 software sales of the month. Please note that Nintendo titles mentioned in the top 10 do not include digital sales, while other titles do.

Next, we have some general info on software and industry-wide sales for the month as well.

  • 24.6 million games were sold across European markets, a rise of 20% over the year before
  • EA Sports FC 24 sold 3% additional units over November compared with FIFA 23
  • the second biggest new game of the month was Football Manager 2024
  • for its first 3 weeks, Super Mario RPG sold 13% fewer units than Paper Mario: The Origami King
  • Super Mario Bros. Wonder’s sales only dropped 15% compared with October
  • Hogwarts Legacy sales increased 509% month-on-month
  • the Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy accounted for over half of the game’s November sales
  • 7.8 million games were sold Black Friday week, a drop of 1% over the same period in 2022
  • EA Sports FC 24 was the #1 game of Black Friday, followed by Call of Duty & Hogwarts Legacy

Finally, we have data on the hardware side of things

  • 1.3 million units of hardware were sold across tracked markets
  • sales are up 59% year-on-year
  • PS5 was #1, with sales up 376% over the year before
  • Switch was #2, but sales were down 35% over last November
  • Xbox was #3, but sales down 26% over the year before
