The Five Nights at Freddy’s movie has been a big success by any measure. It quickly became Blumhouse’s highest grossing movie in the studio’s history and it brought in the biggest five-day debut of any title on Peacock. You’d think that would make the movie a lock for a sequel, but apparently a follow-up isn’t 100% official yet.

You might remember that the director of Five Nights at Freddy’s teased a sequel film, but a tease is much different from a confirmation. That’s why Collider spoke to executive producer and Blumhouse Vice President of Feature Film Development, Ryan Turek, to get an update on where things stand.

That movie made so much money. It was a huge success, and we’re grateful for that. Emma [Tammi] did such a great job, but we’re still waiting for the green light on that (a sequel). We’ll see. …it’s not crazy. It’s just part of the process, I think.

Even without a full-on confirmation of a sequel, it seems incredibly likely that one will pop up at some point. Once such a project is announced, we’ll be sure to let you know.
