Fortnite is the world’s most popular battle royale, wooing millions upon millions of players every single month. Plenty of brands and corporations have turned to Fortnite in order to spread the word on their endeavors, and now we know the British Army was at least considering doing just that.

Apparently the British Army was going to use Fortnite’s creative tools to build a new island for players to visit, and it would house an obstacle course, puzzle rooms, training grounds and more. Furthermore, the British Army was going to work with streamers to promote the island through a series of battles, with the winning streamers taking home cash.

This recruitment island and even were supposed to go live on January 24th, 2024, but it doesn’t seem like that’s happening anymore. What’s unclear is if the island will launch at all, or if the British Army has decided it’s best not to use Fortnite as a recruitment tool.

Kotaku received a comment from Epic on this situation, who said that, “The island has not yet been published to Fortnite (i.e. it is not accessible to players)… Since the Island is in moderation right now, the situation may evolve and we’re in touch with the creators.”
