The Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo line is about to come to a close in the very near future. The Sora amiibo is set to arrive on February 16th, 2024, marking the end of the run for the Smash Bros. amiibo series. Turns out for the final release in this run, Nintendo is also changing up the amiibo box art as well.

Will there ever be another amiibo released from Nintendo? We don’t know at this time, but Nintendo has closed out the end of the Smash Bros. amiibo line with a bit of a packaging change. As you can see above, the back of Sora’s box has a very generic piece of art with just a few details on amiibo in general. The original packaging, used for all other amiibo releases, can be seen on the box on the left.

With the 3DS and Wii U very much things of the past, it only makes sense for Nintendo to scrub them from the amiibo packaging. It’s just odd that they waited so long to do so! Nevertheless, I guess it’s a bit bittersweet to see the Sora amiibo box get a different design from the others, as it signifies the end as something special, but also takes away a bit of tradition.

The packages have had that blank back, at least where I am in the middle of the US, for like 3 years now. I can't remember the first to have it, but it's been quite a while.

It's been going on since recent reprints, and started with the last 3 Splatoon amiibo. This will be the first Smash Bros. new release to have it.
