We’re sad to report that Mojo Nixon, the actor who portrayed Toad in the 1993 live-action Super Mario Bros. Movie, has passed away. Mojo Nixon lived to be 66 years old.

Mojo Nixon was a musician, actor and radio host who saw their career take off in the 1980s. The bulk of Nixon’s career was spent playing music and making albums, but he also acted in projects like The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the 1989 Jerry Lee Lewis biographical film Great Balls of Fire!, and 1994’s Car 54, Where Are You?.

According to reports, Nixon passed away following “a cardiac event” believed to be a heart attack or a stroke. Nixon’s fans will no doubt remember him for decades to come, and his work, including his stint in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, will live on for generations to come. Our hearts go out to all those impacted by Nixon’s passing.
