Music in games is taken much more seriously nowadays than its ever been, which is a wonderful thing to see. So many talented composers exist in the game space nowadays, and there’s no doubt many were inspired by the amazing tunes Koji Kondo crafted in Nintendo titles over the last few decades. Kondo is about as close as you can get to a household name when it comes to game composers.

Ever wonder what wise words Kondo would impart upon the current round of up-and-coming game composers? Gamefile had the chance to chat with Mr. Kondo very quickly about advice he has for new composers, and you can read his thoughts below.

“That’s a really tough question. I don’t think that I’m in any position to be able to be giving advice to younger composers. That being said, I think it would be to have fun, of course. Listen to all kinds of different types of music and then play that music. I think that’s really important: Listen to different types of music. Play that music.”
