The Minecraft movie is still a ways off and we honestly don’t know too much about it. The one area that has been considerable detailed is the movie’s cast, which includes Jason Mamoa, Steve Carell, and probably most notable of all, Jack Black.

Black sat down with IGN for an interview on his current and upcoming projects, and the conversation eventually turned to Minecraft. While Black didn’t have any details to share on who he’ll be playing or what story the movie will offer, he has said that he’s been deep in Minecraft for the last 90 days in order to prepare for the project. It’s not the first time Black has played Minecraft, but he’s been going exclusive with the game for a month and a half to make sure he’s best prepared.

The Minecraft film is coming from Vertigo, co-financier Legendary, Mojang/Microsoft and Momoa’s On the Roam. Producers on the project include Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Momoa, Torfi Frans Olafsson, Vu Bui and the late Jill Messick. EPs are Todd Hallowell, Kayleen Walters, Brian Mendoza and Jonathan Spaihts.

It would be really nice if some other actors, writers, and directors did the same before they worked on their respective video game movies.
