Masahiro Sakurai is back with another installment in his game development video series, and this one slots into the “Design Specifics” category.

In competitive scenes, it’s expected for each player’s skill to be directly reflected. According to Sakurai, not all games need to be so intense!

For more casual games that will be enjoyed by a wider audience, Sakurai says you’ll need a system for implementing handicap settings. Throwing in these features can even the playing field to a degree that the experience can be fun for all player types no matter their skillsets.
