No Rest for the Wicked is the next game from Moon Studios, the developer that created both Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Those two games brought in major accolades and sales alike, leading fans to believe that a third title was a shoe-in. When the studio revealed No Rest for the Wicked, Ori fans were left wondering if they’d seen the last of the franchise.

In an interview with Game Informer, Moon Studios co-founder Gennadiy Korol spoke up on why Ori 3 isn’t on the studio’s slate of games for the time being.

“I think were were pretty happy with where it left off. I think we were able to complete the story of Ori. It’s a complete arc now; if you play both games, it’s a complete story. So it felt like the only way we would come back to Ori 3 is if we have more to say, more story to tell.”

Does that mean Ori 3 will never happen? Not exactly, as it seems studio CEO and creative director Thomas Mahler has been mulling over some ideas.

“I have a title for it already. I have some ideas, but so far, right now, we are completely focused on No Rest for the Wicked for the time being.”
