Developer G-MODE Corporation has announced that Hokkaido Rensa Satsujin: Ohotsuku ni Kiyu – Tsuioku no Ryuuhyou / Namida no Nipopo Ningyou is set to launch in Japan Sept. 12th, 2024. You’ll be happy to know that this game will include English language support, making it perfect for snagging off the Japanese eShop. The game also includes Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese language options, and will see a physical release in Japan.

Hokkaido Rensa Satsujin: Ohotsuku ni Kiyu is a detective adventure game released for PC by LOGiN SOFT in 1984, then for Famicom in 1987. It is considered to be the third game in the “Yuji Horii Mystery Trilogy” following The Portopia Serial Murder Case and Karuizawa Yuukai Annai.

A game never fully remade in the past, as well as one that regularly appears on lists of “most wanted adventure game remakes,” this is a faithful remake of the Famicom version upgraded for the modern era.

You can read further details about the game’s story, developers and more below.

When the Nipopo doll cries, another dead body appears… One morning, the corpse of a man appears in the waters of Tokyo Bay. The unidentifiable body is of a man estimated around 40 years old. The incident then moves to Hokkaido. To Kushiro, Abashiri, Shiretoko, Monbetsu… The second and third incidents are a chain of murders centered in eastern Hokkaido.
