We’re a day and a half from the launch of Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, and thanks to some new hands-on impressions, we’re hearing details that people have been wondering about since the game was announced.

As soon as Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD was revealed, fans were quick to ponder what team was behind the Switch revamp. Would Next Level, the original dev of the 3DS version, be taking on the project themselves, or was some other studio involved? Thanks to new insight from VGC, we now know that Tantalus Media is the studio Nintendo teamed with to bring this game to life.

Nintendo has worked with Tantalus in the past on a number of high-profile projects, including The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD on Wii U and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD on Switch. This studio also tackled the Switch version of Sonic Mania, so their resume shows them as being more than capable of cranking out some high-quality efforts.

Investigate an array of mysterious mansions full of spooky specters as you solve puzzles and seek out the missing shards of the Dark Moon. Help Luigi master the trusty Poltergust 5000 to suck up ghosts, illuminate the dark, and uncover mysteries in Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD. Available June 27, 2024, only on Nintendo Switch.
