Here in North America, Nintendo stopped repairing Wii U units years ago, forcing owners to turn to third party options to fix things up. Our friends in Japan have been sitting pretty for awhile now in terms of getting a Wii U repaired, but unfortunately their time has come as well.

Nintendo has announced that they’ve literally run out of spare Wii U parts for replacements and repairs. That means Nintendo is no longer taking Wii U units in for fixes, which means Japanese owners will have to find other companies or specialists to get the job done.

I can’t imagine there are too many people around the world clamoring to get their Wii U units in working order, but should that time come, those people will have to track down some alternate paths to repairs.
