Sonic the Hedgehog 2 hits $375 million at the global box office

As we shared earlier today, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is heading to Paramount+ and digital platforms for purchase tomorrow! That means the box office revenue will soon drop off quite a bit, making it the perfect time to check in on the receipts thus far.

As it stands for today, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has managed to accrue $375 million worldwide. That’s a considerable success, as it puts Sonic the Hedgehog 2 $51 million in revenue over the original film. When you have a sequel, that’s exactly the kind of results you want to see! For those curious, the split is $181 million in the US and $194 million internationally.

As far as the pantheon of game-to-movie adaptations, that still puts Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in third place. The next targets remain Uncharted and Warcraft, which are at $395 million and $439 million respectively. While Warcraft seems unreachable at this point, there’s a real chance for Sonic to surpass Uncharted.
