New wave of Pokémon-ex cards heading to the Pokemon TCG, including Scarlet/Violet Pokémon

Pokémon Co. promised they would share news on Pokemon Scarlet/Violet to wrap up the 2022 Pokémon World Championships, and that they did. They also promised to reveal some details for Pokémon Trading Card Game fans as well, and they delivered once more with a new trailer and early info.

The trailer revealed that the Pokémon TCG is going to bring back the Pokémon-ex mechanic, and the expansion will include Scarlet/Violet Pokémon. Pokémon-ex are a type of Pokémon that first appeared in the EX Ruby & Sapphire expansion, and the “ex” in the name stands for extra, as indicated by a wide range of attacks that have some sort of additional effect on Pokémon-ex. For example, in the EX Deoxys expansion, there is a Grumpig which possesses an attack called “Extra Ball”, which deals additional damage if used against a Pokémon-ex.

This new round of Pokémon-ex cards will focus on comebacks, and their power is said to rival that of Pokémon VSTAR. More details will be shared in the near future, so hang tight for the next wave of info!
