Plenty of Switch games use a dynamic resolution to handle the action, and most of them do a good job of not dipping too low. That said, there are a handful of Switch games that drop the resolution to depths that are quite surprising. Just how low do some Switch games go? The gang at Digital Foundry is here to find out.

In the video above, Digital Foundry goes over some Switch titles that utilize an extreme amount of dynamic resolution to ensure gameplay continues. The results aren’t pretty, but they’re definitely required to push the gameplay forward.

The Switch’s hardware was outdated when it first hit the market, which means 5+ years later the platform’s age is really showing! Making resolution concessions from time to time is a necessary evil. Some players will find these drops a modest hinderance, while others will call them unforgiveable. Which side of the fence are you on?
