Trombone Champ's soundtrack getting vinyl release
Talk about a tromboner!
Since the dawn of the trombone (Early 15th century or so according to a quick Google search), trombonists all over the world have been compelled to create a wide assortment of brass-powered notes, both sweet and sour. Celebrating that history, iam8bit, the company behind beautiful video game collectibles for nearly 20 years, is excited to announce its collaboration with Holy Wow Studios to bring the soundtrack for Trombone Champ, the internet’s favorite goofy music game, to vinyl for the first time. Announced today, the Trombone Champ vinyl soundtrack will be $32.99, and pre-orders open at 9 a.m. PDT on April 11, 2024, on iam8bit.com.
This single-disc LP is pressed on “Off-Key Orange and Blaring Blue” vinyl and features 26 original and public domain songs, all in Trombone Champ’s honkin’, tootin’ sound. Artist Iri Chen has been brought on board to create the album art, crafting a visual smorgasbord that tells an epic story of the power of music — no matter how unprofessionally it’s played. Purchases also come with a digital download of the album.
Trombone Champ was released in 2022 and quickly took the world by storm with its unique and quirky take on rhythm gaming. It’s been nominated for the British Academy Games Award for Debut Game and Family Game of the Year at the D.I.C.E. Awards. It’s currently available on Steam for PC/Mac and Nintendo Switch.

OMEGA 6: The Triangle Stars launches July 25th, 2024 in Japan
Receiving and important transmission
Today it was announced that OMEGA 6: The Triangle Stars, a new adventure game with 16-Bit styling, based on the manga by former Nintendo art director, Takaya Imamura, will see release in Japan on July 25th, 2024. This announcement came via a live-stream that you can see above.
Japanese customers will have a wide variety of options to pick from when purchasing OMEGA 6: The Triangle Stars. They can grab the standard edition for 3,850 yen, the Black Whole Box Special Edition for 8,470 yen, or cough up 16,500 yen for a special edition with an art book and signed card set. The Black Whole Box special edition includes a copy of the game, the original soundtrack (CD and download code), the Japanese-language OMEGA 6 comic, a manual booklet, and a mini-size poster.
Based on the sci-fi comic first introduced in 2022 by France’s Omake Books, OMEGA 6: The Triangle Stars features a brand new story, taking players on an intergalactic journey to locate a new home for the human race. With adventure around every turn, the path rarely runs smoothly for voyagers Thunder and Kyra, who, joined by their robot Prop and alien Flavo, are forced to embark on a dubious treasure hunt in the ruins of a strange planet to settle their mounting debts. Competing with fellow treasure hunters and armed with information that may help or hinder them, what treachery lies ahead of Thunder and Kyra on planet Imposter?
Having worked on a roster of critically acclaimed titles including the F-Zero, Zelda and Star Fox series, acclaimed art director Takaya Imamura will be leading the art direction and graphics for OMEGA 6: The Triangle Stars, filled with beautiful pixel art and a cast of unique characters. Meanwhile Shinobu Amayake, also ex-Nintendo, will be drawing on her experience of composing music for NES and SNES titles, including Stunt Race FX, to create an original soundtrack for the game.

CFK announces Switch release dates for One Punch and Dungeon Slasher
A one-two Switch punch
Global game publisher CFK (headed by Chang-sig Koo) is proud to announce today that they have settled on the global Switch release dates for two indie games, One Punch and Dungeon Slasher, coming out of Daegu, Korea.
Developer SPRING Games’ One Punch and developer 96Percent’s Dungeon Slasher were released to mobile in 2018 and 2022 respectively. Since the release of each game, they’ve both continued their smooth operations while being met with high-scoring ratings and favorable reviews.
CFK, together with the Daegu Metropolitan City and the Daegu Digital Innovation Promotion Agency (DIP) as part of the 2023 Daegu Global Game Center Game Platform Conversion (Porting) Support Project, has supported the platform porting of two titles from mobile-oriented small to medium-sized game companies, helping them diversify onto new platforms and prepare for global launches, bringing them to Steam after the porting development completed.
One Punch comes to the Nintendo Switch on May 30th (Thurs.), followed by Dungeon Slasher on June 13th (Thurs.).
One Punch (Developer: SPRING games)
One Punch is a casual game that was released to 16 countries around the world and achieved more than 1.7 million downloads. Sporting a pixel art motif that calls back to classic fighting games, One Punch uses move and attack buttons to punch targets (sandbags), giving players the win when they achieve a high score in a limited amount of time. Running into a sandbag, messing up a hit, or timing out all bring the game to an end, demanding quick reactions from players.
Dungeon Slasher (Developer: 96Percent)
Dungeon Slasher is a roguelike action game that was developed with simple controls set around stylish action for players to enjoy. The game is packed full of content, requiring players to acquire, strengthen, and combine skills while they form their own unique skills, not only to navigate the field map, but also to battle against the powerful bosses with their own special gimmicks.

Nicalis officially announces that Touch Detective 3 + The Complete Case Files will be released for Nintendo Switch today. The collection will launch simultaneously as both a digital download and a physical game card.
A collection of charming and eccentric adventure games that originated on the Nintendo DS platform, the Touch Detective series follows the adventures of Mackenzie, a rookie detective who attempts to solve local mysteries with the help of Funghi (her mushroom assistant). Touch Detective 3 + The Complete Case Files includes all three mainline Touch Detective games, marking the first time that Touch Detective 3 will be localized and officially released in English.
Nicalis also worked closely with Success and Beeworks (the game’s Japanese publisher and developer) to update the localizations of Touch Detective and Touch Detective 2½, restoring some small details from the original Japanese text that were lost when the games were originally released in English-speaking territories on Nintendo DS. In some cases, these changes actually introduce subtle clues that are intended to aid in Mackenzie’s investigations.
Also, since the original releases used a second screen to display Mackenzie’s thoughts, these brief asides now appear as interludes superimposed over the main gameplay. This makes it easier to follow the story and ensures that players won’t miss any of her often humorous inner monologue.

This release includes both the classic Nintendo Entertainment System title and the Game Boy title that was released a year later.
